Important Things to Know Before Your Appointment
'At Okanagan Groom 'N' Go, the comfort, safety, and well-being of every pet is our highest priority. Grooming involves working with live animals and professional grooming tools, and while every precaution is taken, certain risks are inherent in the grooming process.
Pet Comfort First Promise
At Okanagan Groom n Go, your pet’s comfort and well-being always come first.
If at any time during the grooming process a pet becomes overly stressed, anxious, elderly, medically fragile, or unsafe to continue, our groomers may slow down, modify the groom, or stop the service altogether.
In some situations, this may mean the groom is shorter, less styled, or incomplete. These decisions are made solely in the interest of the pet’s safety and comfort.
Pet Health
All pets must be generally healthy and fit for grooming.
Grooming can sometimes reveal pre-existing skin or health conditions that were previously hidden by the coat, including hot spots, lumps, sores, parasites, infections, or skin irritation.
Okanagan Groom n Go cannot be held responsible for conditions related to pre-existing health issues.
We recommend pets be up to date on vaccinations; however, proof is not required, as pets in our salon do not socialize with one another.
Matted Coat Policy
Severely matted coats can cause discomfort and may hide skin irritation, parasites, sores, or other medical conditions. For the pet’s safety and comfort, matted coats may require shaving or significant coat removal rather than painful dematting.
Owners acknowledge that:
• Coat removal may dramatically change the pet’s appearance
• Skin irritation, sores, bruising, or parasites may be revealed
• Minor redness or sensitivity may occur once tight mats are removed
These issues are caused by the matting itself, and Okanagan Groom n Go cannot be held responsible for conditions caused by severe matting.
Fleas, Ticks & Lice
For the safety of all pets in our care:
If fleas, ticks, or lice are discovered during grooming, the service will be stopped and the pet sent home unfinished.
Owners will be asked to treat the pet before returning for a future grooming appointment.
Senior Pets
Senior pets may experience reduced tolerance for standing, stress, or underlying health issues.
Grooming elderly pets is performed at the owner’s risk, and services may be shortened or modified to prioritize the pet’s safety and comfort.
Cats & Sedation Policy
For the safety of pets and groomers:
Cats that are aggressive, extremely stressed, or considered "spicy" must be sedated by a licensed veterinarian prior to their grooming appointment.
If a cat cannot be safely handled, the groom may be stopped or refused.
Behaviour & Handling Policy
Every pet is unique, and some pets require extra time, patience, or additional staff assistance during grooming.
If a pet requires significantly more time or specialized handling due to anxiety, behaviour, biting, mobility issues, or stress, an additional handling fee may be applied to reflect the extra time and care required.
In rare cases where a pet becomes unsafe or extremely stressed, the groom may be shortened or stopped for the pet’s well-being.
Payment Policy
Payment is due upon completion of services.
Grooming prices vary depending on:
• Breed and size
• Coat condition
• Time required
• Behaviour and handling needs
Additional charges may apply for dematting or extended grooming time.
Veterinary Emergency Authorization
In the unlikely event of an emergency and the owner cannot be reached, you authorize Okanagan Groom n Go to seek veterinary care at:
Fairfield Animal Hospital – Kelowna
Any veterinary expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the pet owner.
Appointment & Cancellation Policy
24 Hour Cancellation Policy
We kindly request 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or appointment changes.
No-Show Policy
A no-show occurs when a client misses their appointment without notice.
Missed appointments may result in 50% of the grooming cost being charged at the next appointment.
Grooming Risks
While every precaution is taken, grooming involves tools such as clippers, scissors, nail trimmers, and dryers. Minor incidents such as small nicks, clipper irritation, or nail quicking may occasionally occur.
If an injury occurs, the owner will be notified.
